Our son Ryder is an incredible, loving, and talented young boy who has overcome more challenges than most children ever face.
As a military family, we moved frequently throughout his childhood while his father completed 26 years in the Marine Corps. Along the way, Ryder faced developmental delays, seizures, learning challenges, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, Tourette syndrome, and, after years of evaluations, was ultimately diagnosed with autism.
Despite these obstacles, Ryder has a beautiful spirit and a remarkable gift for art. Drawing is his passion and his comfort. He can spend hours creating, expressing himself through his artwork in ways words often cannot.
After years of moving and searching for answers, we have finally found stability in a home that Ryder loves. For the first time, we want to create something that is truly his—a sensory-friendly art space and eventual adult living quarters designed around his unique needs and abilities.
Our goal is to build a private area within our home where Ryder can create art, relax, feel safe, and develop a greater sense of independence. The space will include accommodations recommended by his therapists and designed specifically for his sensory needs, including room for his art supplies, a relaxing personal space, and a calming environment where he can thrive.
Because of his disabilities, Ryder will likely live with us as an adult. The world and the adult lifestyle is a change he doesn’t understand or even wish to. This space is not simply an addition—it’s an investment in his future, his comfort, and his quality of life.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help us create a place where Ryder can feel secure, special, and empowered to be himself. It will also give him a sense of entrepreneurship, which could give him some self fulfillment.
Thank you for supporting our family and helping us build a space filled with comfort, creativity, and love for our extraordinary son.
